Debby Amis, RN, BSN, CD(DONA), LCCE, FACCE, a Fellow of the American College of Childbirth Educators, is certified as a childbirth educator by Lamaze International (formerly ASPO/Lamaze). She has taught childbirth education classes to families in North Texas for over twenty-five years. She currently teaches early pregnancy classes for Presbyterian Hospital of Plano. A longtime volunteer with Lamaze International, Debby is a past president of the Lamaze International Board of Directors and currently serves on the Education Council Governing Body. Also certified as a doula by DONA International, Debby has served as a labor support volunteer at Parkland Memorial Hospital. She helped develop the curricula for the Lamaze International Labor Support Specialist Program, Labor Skills for Nurses, the Lamaze Childbirth Education for the 21st Century Workshop, and the Mission Possible Workshop. She is co-director and instructor for the Texas Lamaze Childbirth Educator Program. She has presented many workshops on childbirth education and labor support topics across the country.
Debby received her bachelor of science degree in nursing, with highest honors, from the University of Texas at Austin. Debby and her husband Steve enjoy their grown children, son Brian and daughter-in-law Jordan, and son Ben. They are looking forward to the birth of their first grandchild. At home are their spoiled but lovable springer spaniels, Molly and Lucy.
