Cindy Carter, RN, BSN, IBCLC, ICCE, began supporting mothers and babies when she served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross, offering help to laboring and breastfeeding women in a military hospital in 1983. Continuing labor support through the years, in 1995 her emphasis turned to assisting families with multiples. Between 1995-2002, she worked over 10,000 hours as a postpartum doula with families of twins, triplets, and quads. In 1999 Cindy began teaching a hospital-based curriculum which she developed for parents expecting multiples. She has instructed hundreds of couples and has served as a birth doula for many mothers of multiples. Cindy has written articles for Lamaze Baby Magazine; the International Journal of Childbirth Education; and the Twins Guide to the First Year, published by Twins Magazine. She has spoken on the topic of multiples at local, state, and international conferences.
Cindy earned an Honors Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington. She is certified as a childbirth educator by the International Childbirth Education Association. Currently, Cindy is working as a registered nurse with high-risk pregnancies and as a hospital-based International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Cindy has always loved babies and was blessed early in her marriage to Woody with four bundles of joy in four years, including a set of twins. Clint is their eldest, followed by twins Craig and Mindy, and last, but not least, daughter April. More recently, Cindy and Woody have welcomed two daughters-in-law, a son-in-law, and six grandchildren into their family. They are eagerly awaiting the birth of number seven.
