Since our first book, written for our own childbirth classes in 1980, we have published seven editions, along with regular updates. Preparing for Multiples - The Family Way is designed especially for parents expecting twins, triplets, or more! Written by mother of twins and registered nurse, Cindy Carter, along with Jeanne Green and Debby Amis, this comprehensive handbook covers pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and breastfeeding, with special sections on possible complications and preterm births. This 136-page handbook is appropriate for parents to read on their own or to be used as a teaching aid in childbirth classes. We hope to help parents make informed choices by sharing encouragement and information from other parents of multiples as well as information from the latest research and trends.

With the popularity of Prepared Childbirth – The Family Way came requests for a Spanish language edition. Solina Kasten-Marquis wrote Prepárandose para la llegada de su bebé — the Spanish adaptation of our handbook. The original edition has been expanded to include additional pages and illustrations to follow more closely the current English edition.

Prepared Childbirth – The Educator’s Guide was also written in response to requests from educators. In this Guide you will find suggestions for using our handbook in classes, along with many teaching tips, class activities, course outlines, and an extensive resource list.

For the past 25 years (now we will stop counting), Debby Amis and Jeanne Green have been teaching pregnant couples, attending births, attending conferences, teaching educators and doulas, providing workshops, writing, publishing, and raising families. There could be no more rewarding career! We have been affiliated with Lamaze International, International Childbirth Education Association, DONA International, and local birth-related organizations. Debby has served as president of Lamaze International. Jeanne was script-writer and educator in the highly acclaimed Injoy-Lamaze video, "Celebrate Birth!" Both of us have served as chair of the Lamaze International Education Council Governing Body and have been certified as doulas and doula trainers with DONA International. We are co-directors of The Family Way Lamaze Childbirth Educator Program, accredited by Lamaze International.
